Scot-M-Cote 11 (A Range Of Flammable Sprit Based Refractory Dressings For Iron, Steel And Nonferrous Casting)

Scot-M-Cote 11 is a sprit based dressing containing a variety of fillers as per the specific requirements of the metal being cast. These inflammable dressings ensure smooth casting finish free from sand burn-on for iron, steel and non-ferrous applications.

Product Information
Depending on the type of metal being cast, various fillers such as graphite are used in sprit based washes. After the coating is applied on the mould o core surface the sprit is flashed off. It leaves behind a layer of fillers, forming a refractory, nonwettable and nonreactive barrier between the molten metal and the mould or core surface. This ensures a good casting finish free from sand fusion, metal penetration and metal mould reaction where applicable.

Scot-M-Cote 11 range of sprit based dressings are carefully formulated to ensure a highly refactory, nonwettable and nonreactive coating layer with optimum application properties to ensure an excellent casting finish. They give consistent performance because of well controlled properties such as specific gravity, bond, viscosity, etc. Home made products often suffer for inconsistent performance because of poor formulation, improper preparation because of poor formulation, improper preparation and uneven application characteristics.

Health And Safety
It is highly inflammable. Keep away from heat and away from any source of ignition. Light off in a safe area away from stored coating. Wear safety glasses and gloves.
Benefits
  • Offers good casting finish free from sand burn-on to reduce fettling costs and improves productivity.

  • Do not cause any coating inclusion problems.

  • When offered in the liquid form use toxic carriers and hence are safe to use.

  • Can be easily remixed and applied due to their excellent suspension characteristics.

  • It ensures clean peal to provide excellent cast surface finish.

  • Significant cost saving through reduced post fettling.

Instructions For Use
  • Remix the ready-for-use liquid products homogenously before use.

  • Mix powder and paste products with the appropriate thinner at the recommended dilution rate using a mechanical mixer.

  • Apply by brush or spray on the mould or core surface and light-off

  • In case of large mould / core surfaces, it is ideal to apply Scot-m-Cote 11 in smaller areas at a time followed by immediate light-off in order to ensure that the coating gets dried easily.

  • Tourch the coating after lighting off, where necessary, in order to completely dry the coating layer.

  • Replace the lid of the carboy immediately after use to prevent evaporation of the carrier.
